Dreaming of Another Woman

May 28, 2009

ina_gartenYes… Last night I had another dream about another woman. Her name… Ina Garten. She’s the Barefoot Contessa on The Food Network. Bethany and I own all her cookbooks and we’ve seen just about every episode. She’s a great chief and always has awesome ways to make delicious foods in a simple, yet elegant fashion. She’s awesome… Watching her show, I literally want to live in The Hamptons and make meals for a friends every day. This isn’t the first time I’ve had a dream about the Barefoot Contessa. I’ve had at least 4 or 5 reoccurring dreams. In most of them, her and I are making food (obviously)… and entertaining. It’s great. We are the best of friends and she shows me a bunch of her cooking secrets. If you haven’t checked her out on The Food Network, spend a Saturday morning w/ The Barefoot Contessa. You’ll love it. How good is that?

10 Days…

May 27, 2009

I have 10 days left of school. At this moment… I’m in survival mode…  I think I either need some extended time off, or a new set of kids. Not sure.

Do you remember these READ library posters? I do. I always wondered if that person holding the book actually read it. Sometimes, I still wonder.

Memorial Day

May 26, 2009

Our memorial day changed just a little bit… we were going to be potty training the kid, but after the fiasco on Saturday, we decided to wait just a little bit longer. Anyway, our day was extremely low-key and restful. We made pancakes in the morning and then headed out to Ontario Mills to get Delaney some new shoes. Once we got home, the kid took a nap, I graded papers, and Bethany vegged out on the couch. The afternoon was washing cars, laundry, and small fix-it stuff around the house. It was a wonderful, unplanned day.

Potty Training Day 1

May 24, 2009

So, first… it was funny to notice that my “we’re about to start potty training post” down below was titled, BEHIND. Anyway… here are some pics for today’s first official training session. Things didn’t go as planned (but we knew that going in to this procedure).

After the kid’s nap, we gave her some juice and had her sit on the potty for a good 20 minutes. We stopped when nothing happened and she had lunch. After that, it was back to the potty to sit and watch the DVD, “Elmo’s Potty Time”. She seemed to like it and figure out what’s going on. But still, nothing.

We then put her big kid panties on and sent her on her way… 15 minutes later: the floor 1, potty 0. We brought her back to the potty to “finish” but nothing happened then and there.

Literally 5 minutes later, she comes out of the office w/ brown panties yelling, “YUCKY!” over and over again. After massive clean up, it was over… we figured we’d wait until she’s calmed down and begin again tomorrow after church.

Sorry if this was TMI, but anyone w/ kids knows about this process.
